The Lineup

Courses & Coaching

Every course below is taught in person by Louie in Williamsburg or Red Hook. No app, no video series — just a coach, a skateboard, and enough sessions to make it stick.

Beginner Fundamentals

First Push

Best for
Total beginners, ages 5 and up
Format
1-on-1 or small group
Length
5 sessions, 45 minutes each

The exact curriculum Louie has taught since 1999: how to stand, push, and stop without a death grip on fear. By session five you're rolling through McCarren Park without thinking about it.

  • Stance, posture, and pushing mechanics
  • Turning left and right with control
  • Accelerating and stopping on command
  • Falling technique — how to go down without going home hurt
  • Pad-up drills: wrists, knees, elbows

Intermediate Progression

Line Work

Best for
Riders who can already push and turn confidently
Format
1-on-1 or small group
Length
6 sessions, 60 minutes each

For skaters past the wobbly-legs stage. Louie builds carving, curb tricks, and basic ledge work into a session that actually flows, instead of a checklist of isolated moves.

  • Carving and pumping for speed without pushing
  • Ollies broken into three teachable parts
  • Manuals and rock-to-fakies on curbs
  • Reading terrain: cracks, camber, and traffic
  • Bail-and-reset drills for confidence under pressure

Any level — kids, teens, and adults
Format

No curriculum, no clock-watching — just Louie's eyes on your specific problem, whether that's a trick you've been stuck on for a year or a fear you haven't named yet.

  • Session built entirely around your goals
  • Video review of your own footage on request
  • Flexible scheduling around school or work
  • Works for skaters returning after an injury

Group Sessions, Ages 6–12

Youth Squad

Best for
Kids new to boards or building basics
Format
Group of 4–8
Length
Weekly, ongoing

Skateboarding is more fun with a crew watching you land it. Louie runs these like a team practice — warmups, drills, and a session-ending game that nobody wants to leave.

  • Small groups so nobody gets lost in the crowd
  • Full pad kit required, loaners available
  • Parent viewing area at both park locations
  • Progress tracked session to session
